Psychoanalytic Study Group: Object Relations Theory

My friend and I are going to be studying Bion this fall/winter. We’re planning on reading Symington and Symington’s The Clinical Thinking of Wilfred Bion in October. After reading this introduction to Bion, we’re planning to read Learning from Experience, Elements of Psychoanalysis, Transformations and Attention and Interpretation, reading one book each month. Once we work through Bion, I’m hoping to read through Melanie Klein and then Donald Winnicott’s major works. Let me know if you’re interested in joining us.

Alright, well we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it (probably some time in the spring). It’s likely I’ll be reading Love, Guilt and Reparation (1921-1945) as well as Envy and Gratitude (1946-1963). I just received both of these works in the mail.

I’ll also be reading a lot of Lacan and Freud this semester. I’m especially going to focus on Freud’s metapsychological papers from the 1910′s.

Oh I haven’t read them for so long. They are wonderful.

    Blogging or offline?

  6. Jeremy Says:

Probably offline. I figured something as simple as meeting every other week and discussing the readings on Google+ hangout. Do you have a preference?
