“Scaling up” the discussion model

After I wrote my post on Lacan’s pedagogy, sometime contributor Basit Iqbal sent me this very interesting article on a pedagogical experiment that attempts to reproduce the benefits of a seminar model in institutional settings that demand very large class sizes. Given the interest (and often envy) generated among my friends by Shimer College’s pure discussion model, I thought this might find a receptive audience here.
